Wii discontinued in Europe, Nintendo confirms

Although the original announcement only applied to Japan, Nintendo UK has confirmed that the Wii has also been discontinued in Europe.


“Wii imports to Europe have been discontinued,” a representative told MCV.

“However, there are still a variety of options for consumers to enjoy Wii games and the Wii gameplay experience. Wii U, which is Nintendo’s latest home console, is backwards compatible with nearly all existing Wii games and accessories when you switch to Wii Mode on Wii U.”

Additionally, the Wii Mini will continue to be stocked in Europe, and if worse comes to worst you can always purchase on in the US, where the console has yet to be discontinued.

Probably for the best, doubt there's any market for the Wii now.

Seems good enough. I'm also considering picking up a Wii Mini just for the novelty of it. I've owned a Wii since 2006 so i think having both of them would be pretty cool

Uhh Nintendo trying their hardest to sell the Wii "Consoles" but it just not working out for them.

Well it's to be expected that a console made in 2006 does not really meet modern standards. The Wii has had a great run regardless.
