Microsoft releases Xbox One countdown and news app for Windows 8

4.4
We have been wondering if Microsoft would launch an app for Windows 8 that would help promote the release of the Xbox One, and now that day has come. The company has quietly added what's being called the "Microsoft Store’s Xbox One Countdown app" in the Windows Store.

As the app's name implies, it features a countdown clock which ticks off the days, hours, minutes and seconds before the official launch of the Xbox One on Nov. 22. It also offers news, features and videos from the company's Xbox Wire website as well as an option to find the nearest Microsoft Store retail location

Scared_of_Water there's been a countdown on the 360 dashboard for a while now

True but keep in mind that the countdown on the Xbox 360 dashboard is actually off by an hour. When they created that countdown timer, they forgot to account for daylight savings time which ends on November 3rd. So, for that timer to be accurate, simply add one hour to it.

P.S. also remember that countdown timer is set to Pacific time. So adjust accordingly. For example, I am in the Central Standard time zone, so the Xbox One releases two hours earlier here than it does in the Pacific time zone.

I've had a countdown widget on my android for a good while now. I created it the day they officially announced the Xbox One release date. However, I often try to avoid seeing it, as it only serves to remind me that we still have another 36 days, 1 hour, 18 minutes and 37 seconds, as I presently type this. After seeing the number several times a day, it makes the wait seem to take longer.
