Battlefield 4 devs 'highly recommend' 14GB install on Xbox 360

Battlefield 4 players on Xbox 360 will be required to install 14 gigabytes of data to "have the best experience possible".

A post on an an FAQ page has broken down the various installation packages that will be required to run DICE's shooter on Xbox 360 in optimal conditions.

"Battlefield 4 on the Xbox 360 will come with two discs: one for multiplayer, the other for single player," it states.

"The first time you start your game, regardless of which disc you use, you will be asked to perform a required installation of 2GB worth of game content to your hard drive. In addition to the required installation, each disc has additional content you can install to your hard drive for better performance."

EA "highly recommends" that players perform these additional installations to "make sure you have the best experience possible in Battlefield 4."

According to the FAQ, the multiplayer disc has "an additional 6.6 GB of content" while the single-player disc has "5.8 GB of installation content".

EA has confirmed a Battlefield 4 release date of October 29 in the US and November 1 in the UK on current gen consoles and PC. Xbox One and PS4 versions will be console launch titles later in November.

The final game will ship with seven multiplayer modes playable on ten maps. You can check out a recent Battlefield 4 multiplayer trailer.

Brad- BF3 took up like 20GB of storage after all the updates, so how much storage will this game take up, once all the updates are taken into consideration?!

20GB of storage for all the updates!! That is just crazy!

HD texture install will no doubt be one of them. It'll probably end up like GTA 5's play disc, as in, if you install it, it messes the game up.

This isn't surprising, the size of the game is much more than a standard disk can hold, and the Xbox 360 being the only console out of the current and next gen consoles having standard disks rather than blu-ray, it makes sense to have an install needed.
Although I am surprised that the majority of the install is optional for a better experience, I wonder what's in those files that necessarily make it a "better experience". I wouldn't imagine it would be textures or sounds or anything like that.

Pedroia Are they going to be doing this for all future games?

Unless the quality of the game is low, more than likely. This is to only be done on the 360 though.

That's cool because we would have ran out of space if we had to download them all.
