Xbox One can run four apps simultaneously, allows sign-in for 6 users

4.5
Microsoft was showing the Xbox One at this year’s TGS and confirmed some details about the machine’s multi-tasking abilities and more.

The firm was demonstrating the console’s somewhat less known features to Destructoid. Microsoft’s Albert Penello’s reportedly showed the console’s ability to run four applications simultaneously. It’ll only run one game at at a time, rather obivously.

Switching between apps is similar to mobile functionality, with the OS allowing you to choose between boxes represent apps or games on the home screen.

Xbox One will support multiple sign-ins, with up to six users live at once. Kinect will decide the leader based on who’s holding the controller. Kinect will also recognize your voice among others in the room and launch games with your saves and settings.

Furthermore, Kinect will allow you to sign-in by just waving your hands, and will then pull all your details and saves from the cloud to the console.

-Lamborgini So this means I can talk to someone over Skype and play something.

I think you can, but I hope it doesn't affect your connection running a couple of apps at the same time.

I think that's what it means,
I think it may start to overheat your xbox if you run to many apps though.

I hope that it does not overheat while running multiple apps as there would be no point in allowing the console to do it. And I hope I can use Skype while I'm playing online that would be a bigger benefactor to the Xbox One.

I agree with you on the skype thing, but I think that because it's the first generation of the Xbox One it will be prone to overheating and a few other things that will ruin it.

raefon Another pointless addition, who cares about multitasking and signing in multiple people.

And sure the Kinect can recognise your voice, oh how I can see that just going down in flames.

Oh lets wave and "The Cloud" will load the information......presuming you have the internet connection and speed to go with it.

Blah blah blah all in a perfect world.

These days, the vast majority of gamers DO have internet connection and competitive speed. Unless they live in a third world country, this is average, not a "perfect world" scenario. Why would they cater to a fringe minority instead of the vast majority?

Wow you are being really ignorint saying that most people have a fast internet speed. Did you know 1/4 of the world doesn't even have internet. Also if you live in the country, which alot of people from the midwest do you get crappy internet connection
Ignore him he is just a fanboy and I think it is less than 1/4.

This? From Pashtun? A Sony fanboy that spends every second that he is on TTG trolling Xbox One articles and talking trash? Why are you here? Shoe fly, back to the PS articles with you. You want to talk about what percentage doesn't have internet? I could also make up figures for what percentage of the world doesn't have running water but it has nothing to do with the conversation at hand. The fact remains that the MAJORITY of console gamers do have internet. Who in the f***, that doesn't have internet, is running out to buy a next-gen console??

As for the Aussie above you, I don't need to live in Australia to know that you have no clue what you are talking about. I play with MANY gamers from all over Australia. Sometimes there connection is crappy, sometimes it is good. Either way, the connection is there.

So, from the logic of these 2 morons, Microsoft should cut features that many want.. because some parts of the world can't use it? That is an arrogant and moronic statement. Even if it was true that only "1/4" of gamers could use the features, why punish them for having better internet connectivity by denying them the features that THEY CAN use?? Does it stem from the Sony fanboy "trash talk everything Microsoft does" mentality or from a cry-baby mentality of, "If I can't have it, nobody can"?? If it is the latter, then perhaps you should be crying to Sony right now over the fact that they have no plans to bring "Vita TV" to the US, Europe or Australia.

Just because ur mommy only lets u play E Rated games doesn't me you should make us suffer with ur stupidity

This post is invalid for a start OT though, This maybe a stupid addition in many people but I think it is a good addition and you do NOT have to use it, it's there if you want to use it. People seem to think Microsoft is saying you HAVE to use all these features.

you hit it right on with that statement. If you dont want it, dont use it. easy as that. do you use every little app on your phone? chances are not likely. and for that statement about ppl in the country dont have internet.., i live in wisconsin, lots of country around here and ya some ppl dont have very good internet, but everyone in the towns do. ppl out in the country can play online just fine, its just that downloads can take a very very long time, so they just go to a friends house in town to download. problem solved.
@DavidDo0M - That's probably the best comment I've seen in my entire life. The way you defended the features perfectly was amazing!

for once they have a REALLY good feature

Well as a next gen console this isn't really a big thing. I mean with that processing power you'd expect this.

PC is superior yet again.

Halo4 I thought it was 8 people, not 6?

It does support 8 controllers, but if you read the article, I think what they are saying is you can have up to 6 people signed in on ONE controller. "Kinect will decide the leader based on whos holding the controller."

Oh alright, then that's pretty cool.
