Xbox One game DVR clips only shareable on Xbox Live at launch

4.5
Gameplay footage captured using Xbox One's DVR functionality will only be shareable on Xbox Live at launch.

During a Tokyo Game Show demonstration, Xbox One head of product planning Albert Penello told Destructoid that gameplay footage will be shareable on social networks like YouTube and Facebook some time next year.

Xbox One will automatically record five minutes of gameplay. DVR functionality will play back at a fixed 30 frames per second in 720p resolution, irrespective of the game's native settings.

Xbox One owners will require an Xbox Live Gold subscription if they want to make use of the console's game DVR functionality.

PS4 will continually record 15 minutes of gameplay data in the background for users to capture and publish online.

Recorded PS4 data can be brought up using the DualShock 4's Share button, allowing players to edit and crop footage and share it across social networks via Ustream.

PS4 owners won't require a PlayStation Plus subscription to use the console's video capture features.

Dr-J At least there's a cloud as where on PS4 you're limited to your HDD space.
You're wrong. The PS4 has a cloud game save service too. Also on the PS4 they let you upgrade your hard drive. So you can put a 1 TB in there or put in an SSD and never see load times again.

The Gaikai cloud service Sony purchased will be used to bring backwards compatibility to the PS4. Furthermore, the X1 will support external memory, meaning I can go to Wal-mart/Best Buy/Target/Office Depot or where ever I choose and buy a 1.5TB external HD for $70 or a 2TB HD for $90 and have all the storage space I'll ever need at a reasonable price. However, changing out the internal HDD on PS4 means that you will have to purchase your upgraded HDD from Sony, meaning that you can only choose from the sizes they offer and must pay whatever inflated price point Sony chooses. I'll stick with my external hard drive for half the price and be able to plug in multiples if I choose.
Are you stupid? The PS4 takes a regular laptop size hard drive (2.5 inch). Its actually Microsoft that limits what hard drives go into their console. Look at the Xbox 360 Slim or fat. Both only can use a hard drive from Microsoft only. It's 100 for the 250 gb. I was forced to buy one. Also for the external storage, M$ put a 16 gb on the 360.

You're calling him stupid, you was the one that said PS4 has a cloud game save service...

Gaikai is nothing but playing PS3 games...

Next year isn't really that far away from the X1 launch date man.

xSTaTiCBLuEx So the console isn't even completed. What a joke...

You're a moron. Both consoles will be rolling out updates for a few months after launch. Neither one will be what you call "complete" on launch day. PS4 won't even have it's cloud service until after March 2014. Do you see me calling the PS4 a joke? No, because I am not an idiot and I understand how a next generation console conversion works. This is just how it is done. If you can't cope with reality, then I suggest you wait until April to upgrade to next-gen.

I'm going to get it a few months after because of the 2nd generation usually being a more improved version.

Not really. "Next year" is only 5 weeks after the console's launch.

Wait. Is this an Xbox One article or a PS4 article?
