PS4 to launch across Asia before Japan

4.6
Sony has set a PlayStation 4 release date of December 2013 across Asia territories such as Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore.

It means that Japan, the spiritual home of the PlayStation business, will be the last major territory to stock the new console. The Japanese PS4 release date is February 22 next year.

While a release data for Asia territories has yet to be finalised, on Wednesday a PlayStation representative confirmed the new system would ship "December 2013".

Some launch games will be specialised for Asia. Ubisoft's Watch Dogs, for example, will come with Chinese and Korean subtitles.

In May, CVG reported that Sony had undergone a strategic review and determined Europe and the US its main priority regions, while Japan moved down the list due to the lack of competition in the region.

Xbox One will release on November 22 in 13 markets including North America, the UK and Australia. The system releases across Japan and Asia in 2014, though a final date has not been specified.

PS4 will release November 15 in the US and November 29 in Europe and Australia.

I don't understand why'd they do something like this. Seems like a lot of Japanese residence will be quite un-pleased about this news.

That sucks they have to wait that long. Honestly, with our internet market the way it is, many people will find a way to get their hands on the console.
