GTA 5 attains joint-highest ever score on Metacritic

4.5
Grand theft Auto V is has become one of the highest-rated games ever, according to new data published on Metacritic.

The review aggregator has drawn together critics' verdicts from numerous publications to calculate that GTA5 has an average score of 97 on the PS3 and 98 on the Xbox 360.

Its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto IV, is still the only game that holds a Metacritic score of 98, meaning that the inclusion of GTA5 gives developer Rockstar the top two positions on the all-time highest rated chart.

However, the review monitor has no data on games released before 2001.

Slappp_x Am I the only one that thinks this should've been released on next-gen? All of you saying how 'Amazing' the graphics are, just imagine how much better they could be, and how much more stuff could've been added. Not to mention it would've boosted the sales of next-gen consoles immensely.

I hope you realize that it will be released on Xbox One and PS4 i'm sure.

And I hope you realise certain things suggest otherwise to your statement. Rockstar stated that GTA V on PS3 and XBOX 360 'felt next-gen' to them, and with the release of next-gen so near why wouldn't they hold off if they planned on a release for all generations. Finally they haven't even confirmed a PC port... If there's no PC port then I highly doubt there will be one for next-gen consoles.

I hope you realise that PC is the biggest gaming port in the industry, with higher fan support too, it'll easily come. And as for next-gen? Expansions is what Rockstar do for every Grand Theft Auto game such as Vice City and San Andreas in 3rd gen, or Ballad of Gay Tony in 4th gen. But the complete shift of console gamers coming from this generation to next-gen console will leave a massive gap in their library for GTA on next-gen consoles. They'd lose too much of their profit margin if they don't switch to next-gen, because I'm almost certain that Rockstar will be releasing the expansions through DLC again which is easier for Rockstar, cheaper for both them and their customers and a better all round experience for everybody too.

If you recall from a while ago, it was already rumored that Rockstar was discussing a possible next gen game. Also, it would be the smart thing to do considering about at least 60% of all current console gamers are going to upgraded to a next-gen console. By making a next gen disc, not only are they going to boost sales even more by people buying the game again, but they would probably just earn more profit than they already are.

How would they lose their profit margin? They made the 170m back through pre-orders alone...
