GTA V copies sold early, Rockstar 'investigating'

4.1
Copies of Grand Theft Auto V have been shipped to gamers this weekend, breaking Rockstar's September 17 street date.

The early copies were allegedly shipped by online retail giant Amazon, according to pictures of the game that have been posted online on Saturday.

It is not unusual for Amazon to ship games just ahead of their release dates to ensure their arrival on the release date itself. In this case, copies of GTA V appear to have turned up in customers' mailboxes four days early.

Rockstar has said it's investigating. "We are in the process of investigating early 'sales' to determine how and why that is occurring," the publisher told Games Industry.

Sony confirmed earlier today that pre-loading of the PS3 Grand Theft Auto 5 through the PlayStation Network has been delayed until September 16.

The delay follows the leak of GTA 5 details through a PlayStation Store error. In August gamers who pre-ordered the game via the EU PlayStation Store were apparently accidentally given access to files that revealed game details, which were inevitably posted online.

Rockstar has confirmed a US and European GTA 5 release date of September 17 on Xbox 360 and PS3. The game will launch in Japan on October 10.

Feel sorry for Rockstar the more they tried to stop the game from being leaked to people before the 17th the worse it got and now people actually have the game and are leaking it even more.

Cokes Rockstar can't be Sherlock Homes. How can they possibly track all the shipments and track down who leaked the game...or can they?

It's way easier to do that than you think....

I should've ordered mine from Amazon haha. I guess I would've also had the chance of getting banned though.

I bet everyone is regretting pre-ordering anywhere but amazon right about now.

They won't get in trouble but they will get an ear full. As of now, R* is probably just confused on why sellers are releasing it early. It's not fair to everyone. As far as torrents, they knew about it. The knew people will leak gameplay BUT as of now i haven't seen storyline gameplay besides a few missions.

So if i was r* i will be very happy.

BBmodz next big game that comes out I'm definitely ordering from amazon in hope to get it early.

I wonder how much trouble amazon will get in for this act they pulled.

Yeah, and sometimes they come a day late. So I don't think that's such a good idea.
