Microsoft shows off first Xbox One TV ad with NFL tie-in

4.6
A few days ago, Microsoft revealed more information on how its Xbox One game console will offer official National Football League apps. Today, the company uploaded what is likely to be the first television commercial for the console and, in an unusual move, it's promoting the NFL features that Xbox One owners will be able to use when it launches November 22nd.

The 31 second clip will almost certainly be shown tonight on NBC as part of their coverage of the first NFL game of the season (Denver Broncos vs Baltimore Ravens, for those of you who might not be aware). As posted on YouTube, the clip shows some very enthusiastic NFL fans watching football games on TV via the Xbox One and getting instant updates on players stats as they watch. It also shows how users can access the Skype to chat with friends while keeping tabs on their games and scores.

This TV ad shows that Microsoft really wants the Xbox One to be viewed by the general public as more that just a game console. The tie-in with the NFL could entice some people who normally might not have purchased the Xbox One. It will be interesting to see if this first commercial is an overall indication of Microsoft's marketing push for the Xbox One as an overall TV entertainment system rather than a system for hardcore video gamers.

Of course the playstation fanboys come along getting all mad that it didn't show games, they need to understand that it was aired during an NFL Game, of course they are going to show off things to do with the NFL instead of games.

CHP and no video games mentioned.

Are you retarded. It was a commercial done for the kick off... Its not supposed to show games, it was to appeal to football fans...

Yin When I first read about this TV ad, it sounded quite negative to the fact that they didn't show any games. I think the ad was nice to show how fast and seamless changing apps seem to be. If people know Xbox, they know they are delivering games. No real need to include and pay for something that people already know. I'm not a football fan, but I think it was a good ad for what it's worth.

This and games were shown off a lot, I don't know what more they can show

TTGxExecutive Are there going to be restrictions on this or is it free to gold members? I hope they add other sports as well once they get into season next year. I like the fantasy app and the new dashboard though.

Free to XBL gold. I also hope they add other sports.
