Xbox One in 'full production'; CPU boost confirmed

4.5
Xbox One is currently in 'full production' following a last minute CPU tweak, a Microsoft exec has confirmed.

Speaking at the Citi Global Technology Conference, Xbox chief marketing officer Yusuf Mehdi confirmed the console is currently in its production stage.

He also revealed the company has improved the console's CPU from 1.6 GHz to 1.75 GHz, according to Geekwire.

Mehdi's comments follow similar news from Xbox One chief product officer Marc Whitten last month, who confirmed that the company has increased the console's GPU clock speed by 6.6 per cent.

Microsoft has yet to announce a specific release date for the Xbox One beyond a vague November launch window. In the case of eight European countries, the console won't release until 2014.

Meanwhile, a recent terms and conditions document for an upcoming PepsiCo promo campaign suggests the console will release 'late November'.

Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb recently responded to claims the console has been rushed, insisting every Xbox One booth at Gamescom was running on final Xbox One hardware

People saying this will increase RROD obviously have no experience in the field.

Snipp They say they've tested and made sure RROD situations won't happen. With this boost, RROD will increase. For you saying it won't, you know nothing about how hardware works. Not every chip is made the same. Some will be able to handle 1.75, some won't. Them doing this is a stupid move, they need to calm down with the overclocking.

I agree what not all chips of the same design have the same capacity due to random chance of being a "dud" but I'm pretty sure the chips they'll make won't cause to much of an issue and if it does I'm sure microsoft will replace RROD xboxs that failed on their end meaning if they screwed up they'll fix it..that doesn't mean chuck your xbox at the wall if it did RROD.

They xbox slim didn't have any RROD problems so why would the xbox one have RROD problems. They've already put in the technology that makes them not have that problem.

That was with the original stuff running at the normal speeds. Since now they have upped the speeds of not only the GPU, but now the CPU they run the chance of overheating much more quicker, and possibly destroying the chip and melting. It's the only reason why I don't overclock. I'm all for doing it but I don't wanna run the risk.
