Xbox One 'hasn't been rushed' to market, says Major Nelson

4.7
Despite acknowledging a number of "challenges" in the run-up to this November's Xbox One launch, Xbox Live director of programming Larry 'Major Nelson' Hyrb insists the console hasn't been rushed to market.

Microsoft said last month that Xbox One's launch had been delayed to 2014 in eight European countries due to Kinect localisation issues rather than supply problems.

Xbox One will now launch in 13 markets this November, although Kinect voice commands will initially only work in five countries, while the console appears unlikely to support external storage upon release.

Responding to suggestions that Microsoft has rushed the console to market, Major Nelson said on Reddit: "The Xbox One program has been in development for years, so calling it 'Rushed' is incorrect.

"Did we have a few challenges between May and August? Sure. But we are working on our own schedule - not any one else's. At Gamescom, every game in the Xbox booth was running on final Xbox One hardware. Every. Single. One. That would paint a very different take on the being 'rushed.'"

Xbox One is targeted for a "late November" release, according to the terms and conditions section of an upcoming promo campaign for which PepsiCo and Microsoft have partnered to give away an Xbox One every two minutes. The Xbox One price has been set at £430 / €500 / $500.

ODST The console is most likely rushed due to the amount of changes to the the Xbone in the past couple months compared to the years of concept and development. I'm worried that the ones who originally said "specs don't matter" are about to eat their own words as they try to update their console more and more before launch. I'm worried that there is going to be a new, similar, problem wit the Xbone as there was with the 360; The Red Ring of Death

Notice how that was only on the original 360s no RROD on the slim. They wouldn't let that happen again of they can fix it.
just because their was change to a console dosent mean it was rushed. it was you can say improved due to the fact that they removed drm, which is software change, your a ps4 fanboy for calling it xbone, dont say you arent because the only fact you started was rrod which has not occured since 2006 so in the end dont try to act smart when your really not, with other people opinion

1st: You're saying I'm not intelligent in this field yet you can't comprehend the basic skills of a third grader grammatically (their=there, your=you're, started=stated, fragments, sentence fragments everywhere.)
2nd: RROD happens less frequently than before but don't forget that the Xbox 360 S didn't make it's appearance until 2010, 5 years after the initial release of the 360. Older (white) versions of the 360 still can have RROD, that's why even in today's market you can find deals at Gamestop and such to trade in RROD Consoles.
3rd: A console that's been in development for over a year now but has recently been changed from it's original concept in such a short period of 2 months is bound to have flaws. It's like turning an ordinary everyday fan (I'm talking like tower fans) into fan that's suppose to be installed in a computer case. I mentioned the RROD simply because it was the largest flaw that plagued the 360 for half a decade.
4th: I come from a point of view from which I'm planning on getting both consoles, not from a sided figure. I like how Sony has been the last few months compared to the PR ("Major" Nelson) on what the consoles will be like for launch day. I liked the PS4 simply because I didn't know if I could play with my brother over seas, in the U.S. Navy, based in Rota, Spain. Microsoft just said to go back to using the 360 back when it's DRM policies still had dominant control over the reason why to not get an Xbone.
5th: The "Xbone" nickname is based on the stupidity of the name chosen for the console by Micro$oft and not a nickname that PS4 community gives to Xboxs'.
6th: Now who's stupid? (Would you like some burn heal?)

Today, you have won the entire internetz. +1

oh wow correct me for my grammer yet im still taking ap course and my gpa is still a 3.6 nice job kid, yet ask anyone with an xbox with a jasper mobo xbox if they have gotten rrod, again rrod has not happened often since 2006, every electronic has its flaws the ps3 has the ylod, the samsung galaxy s4 cant sbeam music, every technology has its flaws and times to fail, your comparison of installing a tower fan for pc is horrible, would have made more sense like saying installing mac os on a windows xp computer, because all the xbox one was changed was software, nothing more, they added a cpu increase but in this case had nothing to do with drm, respect to ur bro who in the navy as i am plan to join after college, xbone was not created by microsoft morons like you would think that, again please come up with legitimate reason on how it was rushed

I'm not saying that the Xbone is going to be a terrible console. I'm saying I'm worried about how they have upped everything's speed inside the Xbone by just enough to compete or be equal to that of the PS4. I'm worried that not enough testing has gone into seeing what the results may be for speeding up the console in such a short amount of time. I'm looking mostly at Murphy's law. If anything can go wrong, it will. Anything rushed and under tested can be potential for a product going wrong. Another comparison would be running a brand new game with max settings on a PC that is almost a decade old. It's going to be slow, worn out, and have problems. It's NOT MADE TO BE WORKED AT THOSE SETTINGS. Your PC will either over-heat or just not simply be able to work after a little time.

Not trying to be a jerk or anything but if you want to talk about your AP classes and GPA (which is now in most colleges dependent on the 100 point system rather than the old 4 point system), I suggest dropping them seeing as you can't tell what a run-on sentence is and still have terrible grammar spaced between the paragraph.

Good to know that the consoles are not being rushed and Microsoft are working towards their own schedule good on them.

Simplicity is best for things such as consoles though, if you want complexity there is always PC
