UPDATE Gamescom 2013: Minecraft coming to PlayStation 4 at launch.

Minecraft is coming to the PlayStation 4 at launch, Sony announced during its Gamescom press conference today.

Minecraft launched on PC in 2011 as an early access alpha, and from there it gained unprecedented, worldwide sales and mainstream acclaim. It's since launched on Android, iOS and Xbox 360 – during its E3 press conference, Microsoft announced Minecraft for Xbox One. This month Minecraft on XBLA passed 8 million sales.

Update:
Notch has posted on Twitter hinting that Minecraft will also be coming to PS3 and Vita.

I saw it coming after they gave him that Gold PS1. Well that and it would bring them a lot more sales.

Of course he is doing that after he got the gold PS One from them earlier. I am sure this will do great on the Playstation just as well as it has done on all other consoles.

I had a feeling this would happen eventually. A lot of PS3 players wanted this, so it makes sense for it to appear on the PS4.

Please explain how it will be stupid? This gives those of the PlayStation community a chance to play Minecraft (that is if they haven't played it already) and more people will understand why it is such a great game. Saying it is "really stupid" is very ignorant considering a lot of people will like to see and play it on the Playstation.

It has been in pretty high demand from PS3 users since the Xbox 360 received it. This will be a great addition to the game line up of the PS4

What's so stupid about Minecraft being for both consoles? Now all gamers will be able to enjoy it

Watch it have a bigger map size than the Xbox One's map sizes. That'd be funny.

Straighty180 this is pretty cool, maybe thee will be some way to use xbox worlds on the ps4 or vice versa


I don't think that would work, without some form of cross platform change.
Although it'd be very nice if it did!
