Xbox One controllers compatible with PC in 2014

4.7
The Xbox One controller will work with your Windows PC – just not when the Xbox One launches later this year. A Microsoft representative says the company hopes to roll out the drivers in 2014.

"As we've stated, the Xbox One controller, although it looks similar in many ways, shares no underlying technology with the current Xbox 360 controller. New wireless protocol, combined with the ability to work in 'wired' mode, and the addition of features like Impulse triggers, means that new software has to be written and optimized for the PC," the representative told CVG . The representative also said work must go into ensuring existing games supporting Xbox 360 controllers also support the Xbox One game pad.

One of the big differentiators between the Xbox One and Xbox 360 controllers is Wired mode, which allows an Xbox One game pad, when plugged in through micro-USB, to disable its radios and operate as a true wired controller.

It would be nice if they could get them to work on the PC wireless. Instead of buying an adapter for it to work that way.

Gossip This is great for PC gamers.

It will be pretty good for people looking to get a controller for the PC, It will benefit me a fair lot at least

If i ever start PC Gaming i'd most probably start off with a controller for a month or two than try and move to mouse and keyboard.

Its best to start with mouse and keyboard, get a head start on it, mouse and keyboard gives aiming accuracy you won't believe.

OmittingCoder Keyboard and Mouse allow ten times more precision and accuracy than any controller ever could. Whoever would buy this would have a huge disadvantage in gaming.

There are some games so poorly optimized for PC that a controller is usually needed to play effectively. Some people also prefer using the controller over keyboard and mouse

Toll I would rather use a controller than a keyboard! But what about when you are playing Minecraft how would you type and use all the letter keys? Seems confusing!

Minecradt may not allow users to use a controller but if they did they may make it like the Xbox version of MC.

I don't think it will bother PC Gamers as there probably use to keyboard and mouse. It would be great for people who occasionally play PC whilst playing on Xbox alot
