Nintendo takes console hack site to court

4.6
Nintendo has filed suit against the owner of hackyourconsole.com, a site which probably doesn’t need much explanation.

GameInformer reports Nintendo itself announced the suit, which was filed in Florida.

The site allegedly modifies Wii hardware to enable use with pirated software; sells DS devices like the famous R4 for the creation and use of unauthorised software; and vends unauthorised copes of games.

It’s also said to be introducing a device enabling pirated software on the 3DS.

Nintendo is one of the more active platform holders when it comes to lawsuits and has been particularly firm on the topic of piracy. It regularly advocates for stricter legislation against piracy. The DS is one of the most frequently exploited devices in the world in terms of copied software.

Pinballs You could probably hack a nintendo product with a paper clip

I've never been successful in trying it on the Wii ._. Then again I was younger when I tried that xD

slapshot101 I don't understand why they did this they are losing all the sales with people buying hacked DS's, I mean they are already having trouble selling the Wii U.

How will they be loosing sales through taking a console hacking site for court, a large amount of popular DS games where made by Nintendo themselves

JacobyEllsbury Well, they don't actually state that the sole purpose is to be able to pirated games, but to run homebrew. So they're not doing anything illegal, this lawsuit will flop worse than LeBron. Nintendo are losing a lot of money here: legal fees, settlement charges, appeals.

lol. I like the simile that you put into that comment.

But I do agree with what Nintendo is doing here.
