Codemasters drops online pass for F1 2013

4.5
F1 2013 will ditch the online pass functionality previously attached to a number of Codemasters' racing titles.

The unpopular system - recently discontinued by publisher EA - requires players to either input a code found in new copies of a game or pay a one-time fee to access online multiplayer features.

It's not yet clear if Codies intends to drop online passes for its other racing series like Grid and Dirt, but it confirmed in a F1 2013 Q&A that no such pass will be required for the upcoming game.

It also said there won't be a demo of the title as it wants to focus all of its resources on the final product, and explained that McLaren and Ayrton Senna won't feature in the new F1 Classics mode due to licensing issues.

Codemasters has announced a F1 2013 release date of October 4 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Featuring all the cars, circuits and star drivers from the 2013 season, the game will be available in two editions: F1 2013 and F1 2013: Classic Edition.

The standard edition of the game provides access to iconic cars and drivers from the 1980s, while the premium edition delivers more classic content from the 1990s.

More online passes? Really?

Online passes are annoying because then you have a risk buying the game used. But where I live there is a place called Hastings and you can rent games. But the funny thing is if you get it first the codes are still in there.

Homunculous F1 2013 is a game? I have never heard of it.

Cool, why do we care?

Why do you post meaningless, nonsensical comments everywhere I look, -CP?
You just post to boost your count up, and at the same time, usually insult people in the process.

I'm glad they decided to ditch the passes, it seems to be becoming the norm for most games lately anyway, just following suit I can imagine.

Seems like an online pass would be much more simpler.

The only reason for online passes in my opinions is purely so a company can make more money. But I think its really great that Codemasters have ditched them, just like EA ditched them :)
