Xbox One to have unlimited cloud storage

4.6
Microsoft's gaming console, the Xbox One, has now had yet another new feature revealed: unlimited cloud storage.

It's no secret that Microsoft has one of the most powerful cloud services with Azure, SkyDrive and other products and services, and the cloud is being used extensively with the Xbox One to power some of the computing and rendering processes, but that's not all. Another lesser-known use of the cloud for the device is that it can be utilized as an extension of the hard drive, storing and retrieving game data.

While this feature is not an entirely new one as it existed previously on the Xbox 360 with the caveat that it could only store game data and achievements due to being limited to 512 MB of storage, it does come with some drastic changes on the One. A few of them include the storage limit being upped to infinity, and the file types being stored becoming more diversified. The release by Microsoft reads as follows;

Xbox Live offers Xbox One unlimited storage space in the cloud for all Xbox Live members to store numerous types of Xbox Live content, including your profile, games, Achievements and entertainment. This content is stored and saved in the cloud so you can automatically access it anywhere, anytime, no matter where you are

Previous generation Xbox users had to subscribe to an Xbox Live Gold account to be able to make use of this feature, Microsoft has now stated that this service will now be available for all users whether Gold or Silver.

AngelBeatsFan I can cap it! Nah but seriously it's a nice modification but I see PS4 outselling xbox one.

I'm pretty sure the Xbox One is winning in pre-orders at the moment. I myself am i PS4 fan so i'm hoping that the tables are turned once the consoles are actually released

GTS never used cloud just in case something messes up and i lose all of my stuff i guess i can give it a try

I've never used the cloud storage option on my Xbox either. It simply seems like more of a hassle then it's worth. Hopefully the Xbox One can streamline this process

well if this is true, its kicked ps4 butt

G9H It's not unlimited, It just has a gigantic memory space which no one could cap.

I was about to say that

Axe Microsoft better be ready for this on the day of the release or else its going to be like SimCity

This is not the same thing. Although it could mess up but doubtful since they already have thousands of people using these services anyway.

Thousands, oh my so many people. That's the issue, nobody uses it and nobody wants to, this is nothing over the PS4 to those saying so, because nobody wants to have to download their files from a cloud where they have no control over their files every time they want to play, pointless feature that nobody will use.

I meant millions. i just looked it up. My bad. Also you sound a little angry. Also ignorant. You don't have to download files from the cloud. They can be accessed directly with any internet connection. You are just an ignorant fanboy who gets angry and spout off info that you don't even understand. Also how is unlimited memory a "pointless feature"? Have fun buying a new hardrive when yours fills up.

SirJtagPosted:

PyramidHead I guess this is a good feature but still not really worth anything. i mean if i get a 250GB hardrive with the console i wont blow through that for a while. Also you cant have unlimited memory because everything has a limit.

although you are correct in a respect, as Bill Gates is worth around $56 billion he could just get another cloud storage server.... hence it being infinite.

Vancouver_Canucks Nothing is unlimited, everything has a limit i.e. Texts (usually 5000)

If everyone saves everything to the cloud that will be a hell of a lot of data on there and if it crashes or gets a fault somehow then all of that data is lost.

You see, computers, microsoft, the world.
Microsoft owns the world, you could say.
Go to court against Microsoft? A big finger to your face.
These guys can arrange an accident for you and get away, money is power.

Im sorry but i literally have no idea what you mean by that post :)
