Sony Won't Appeal Fine Related to 2011 PSN Hack

Sony dropped its appeal and will therefore have to pay a £250,000 fine issued by the UK Information Commissioner's Office related to a massive data breach on PSN in April 2011. ICO issued the fine in January 2013, calling the hack a "serious breach of the Data Protection Act."

"After careful consideration we are withdrawing our appeal. This decision reflects our commitment to protect the confidentiality of our network security from disclosures in the course of the proceeding," a Sony representative told V3. "We continue to disagree with the decision on the merits."

InsanePanda PSN was down for a month and peoples bank accounts and psn accounts were lost and only 250k? :/


Just to let you know.. Out of all the people in life i know who has a ps3... None of their bank accounts got hacked....


Lots of people seem to have lost their psn accounts and bank accounts got hacked, I don't know anyone that had it happen to but it was all over psn where people had to go through security measures and laywers to get it back, Just because you don't know anyone that got hacked doesn't mean no one did

Daytona That's a huge loss for sony, considering they're already barely making a profit on the PS3's currently, I'd say the PS3 was quiet a failure in the end for them.
