No off switch for Sony's DualShock 4 lightbar

4.5
Even in the name of battery life, it will remain on

President of Sony's worldwide studios Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed via Twitter that the lightbar on the DualShock 4 controller cannot be turned off.

The lightbar on the PS4 controller is used with the PlayStation camera to detect motion control in the same way as Move controllers, and can be used by developers to increase the game's experience, such as the way it works as a health bar in Killzone: Shadow Fall.

The lightbar, however, cannot be switched off, as Yoshida confirmed on Twitter. Responding to a question on whether the lightbar can be deactivated in order to conserve the controller's battery, Yoshida simply stated "no."

DubleJayJ I love how people are complaining. Stop blowing this tiny stuff out of proportion. It's a **** light bar. Is it gonna kill you?

XeJonny This better not drain too much extra battery life

Its a micro LED, it won't drain much...

KarmaRambo If you guys are that mad. Open the controller. And remove the LEDs..

That's always an option.

-Live Honestly if your complaining about the light bar, might as well complain about the ROL on the 360 controller. It's not that much different, it's just a soft glow coming out of it and it won't even be facing you. I doubt you will even notice it unless you have your face directly at the controller. Also, about battery life. It comes with a charging cord people you can just charge and play it's not that big of a deal.

The light on the 360 pad is A LOT smaller than that, plus that turns off when you turn your controller off.

Are you stupid? The light bar WILL turn off if the controller is off. ~It would be extremely illogical to have your console and controller off but the light bar on.

or just take the batteries out if its bothering you that much
