Sony trademarks PlayStation TV (again)

And IGN reader has dug up a trademark application for a “PlayStation TV” service mark from Sony filed on June 26 of this year. This was actually the second time they’ve filed this trademark – the first came in 2006, but that mark lapsed last year.

So what does this mean? Well, you might recall that at the Sony E3 presser this year Sony Pictures CEO Michael Lynton said they would be producing new gamer-oriented original content exclusively for the PlayStation Network, and it could be related to that. Or it could just be a hedge, as I would assume the 2006 filing was. Sit tight.

Vancouver_Canucks It wont be on the same scale as Xbox One. The Xbox is pure tv this will just be a few tv channels ect... probably things like BBC iPlayer, Youtube maybe?


The Xbox isn't "pure tv." I wish I could use the facepalm emoticon here...

So you would want a half assed TV program, just so you can say "It's still a gaming console because it only has 2 TV channels and not hundrends of channels like the Xbox One."

It doesn't matter, there's nothing wrong with extra features as long as it doesn't interfere with the purpose of the system.

There's an Apple TV? .-. I'm not surprised though, I heard people talking about it but I thought it was fake.
