Don Mattrick named Zynga's new CEO

4.6
Don Mattrick has been named the new CEO of Zynga, the social games company just announced in a blog post. He starts next week.

"Going forward I'll continue in my role as Chairman and Chief Product Officer," said outgoing CEO Mark Pincus. "I'm excited to partner with Don and the rest of our team to return Zynga to its leadership role in inventing and growing Play as a core human experience."

Before his departure, Mattrick was the president of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business, handling products such as the Xbox One. Prior to Microsoft he served as president of worldwide studios at Electronic Arts.

Leaping from the frying pan into the fire, Mattrick will now have to pick up the pieces of Zynga, which has struggled with departures and sweeping layoffs.

Starify I have never heard of this company until now. Seems like they won't be around for awhile, and he will probably be crawling back to Microsoft.

Zynga was really popular on Myspace and I think Facebook. I think they have been going under though for what ever reason.

They have been going under mainly because people have completely lost interest in social gaming..

Woobie Still wonder what this man was thinking to leave MS.. must have been dollar signs.

Must have been, that or he's gone insane

He was likely offered more money from Zynga. He also received a large amount of bad publicity because of the Xbox One reveal

He did that to himself though. Most of it was because of how sarcastic he was to the people asking questions on Twitter and when he was also making fun of them as well.

True. I personally didn't like him what so ever, he acted like a complete idiot who was better than everyone

Of course, there wouldn't really be any other reason. Even if I did get more money I would stay with MS.

Don lol he thing he is the sh*t I hope he leaves MS better off with out him and his cocky attitude.

I dont think think you understand the title of ceo. The only person above him is owner. He is top decision maker. He is running the company, He is probably makeing alot more money.

But the thing im confused with is, I thought zynga was going under? Maybe he things he can turn em around but if he doesnt then hes outof a job. But im sure there is a really good reason he left microsoft.
