'Up to 300 Time Warner live TV channels' coming to Xbox 360 in the US

4.7
Time Warner has entered into a partnership with Microsoft and is to launch an app on Xbox 360 later this year that provides "up to 300" Live TV channels to the system.

The Time Warner Cable TV app will give Xbox Live Gold subscribers access to channels including AMC, BBC World News, Bravo, Cartoon Network, CNN, Comedy Central, Food Network and HGTV. A subscription to the network (which currently starts at $65 per year) will be necessary.

Microsoft says that the service, which aligns the Xbox 360 with the features available on Xbox One, will be exclusive to the US.

"TWC TV is a significant addition to Xbox 360, bringing our customers their favourite entertainment in one place-enhanced TV experience, games, movies, music, sports and entertainment apps," said Blair Westlake, corporate vice president of media at Microsoft.

"Our partnership with TWC enhances all that is available on Xbox 360 today, which will we continue expand. We're thrilled to offer TWC TV to US Xbox Live members and Time Warner Cable subscribers."

Mike Angus, senior vice president and general manager of video for Time Warner Cable added: "We look forward to introducing TWC TV to Xbox 360 and providing customers with this new viewing experience within the home. We are very excited about Microsoft's vision for entertainment and the vast possibilities Xbox offers."

On-demand entertainment will be a central focus of Microsoft's Xbox One. The console is designed to be connected directly into a cable box allowing users to watch video content and play games at the same time.

Microsoft has officially announced an Xbox One release date window of November 2013 in 21 markets and a price of £429 / $499 / €499.

lel eh, TV got bland to me

The commercials killed it.

I mean the news can be just depressing, cartoons went crappy, and everything else to me is jersey shore and 16 and pregnant stuff

I barely watch TV any more. If i ever watch anything it's either streamed or downloaded from the internet

I hate commercials unless it's during the Superbowl, those commercials are good.

Everything on TV went to crap. I hardly watch it because nothing interests me on there any more.

Reeve This is exciting im very excited, this will take the xbox to a way new level im impressed.

It would be better if it didn't have all those ads and more games. TV is just an add-on for me.

That's how it should be.

The fact is a lot of people don't want the TV being pushed down their throats like it is. During the reveal they talked more about the TV on Xbox One than the game and console itself.

I know right, the console would be better without the 'TV'

RaheemSterling_31 Is the US only?

No I think this is for all Xbox One consoles. Time Warner cable might be for the US only but I'm sure there will be other cable companies added on for the consoles in different countries.

I really dont need these, its no big deal to switch to your actual tv :p

Exactly what I'm saying. Even then I don't do that because I hardly watch TV. I mostly watch shows on the computer because I don't have the HUB channel on my TV(for MLP :3 ) and I like watching TV at night sometimes when I'm just kicking back relaxing.

Same here, I only watch TV for my regular shows :) The Mentalist / Castle / NCIS...
I don't need TV on mah XBOX.

I feel it's just going to give more ads on the menu and everything. I don't have a problem if it's ads for games and promotions but I don't want to see what they have for TV plastered everywhere.

this is going to be a big change.

Yea, me neither, I don't want to see more ads than games :p Priority: Games, not TV.

If I wanted to see more TV ads, I would turn on my TV and watch it or go on Netflix or Hulu and see what ads they got there.
