Xbox One Kinect for Windows SDK applications live now, cost $400

4.7
Windows Developers anxious to get their code onto Microsoft's next-gen Kinect can apply for a software development kit before its official public release in 2014. Microsoft is accepting applications now through July 31 at 9AM PT, and early kits cost $400. The program begins in November.

Early kits include an alpha sensor and the final sensor at launch, private support from the Kinect for Windows engineering team, access to the early SDK and any future updates, and private access to all API.

Microsoft will alert successful applicants in August.

Ouch. $400 is pretty high for a single unit . I wonder how many people will apply

In all honesty I don't see this doing that well. But hey if it does, then more power to Microsoft.

$400 ? Quite expensive lol .

$400 just for the kinect? BS i would rather wait and spend the $500 on the One + Kinect

Mrs_ZambiesPosted:

Kinda pointless, if it was for the "one" mayb

They aren't going to have many people take them up on this offer, now if it was the Xbox One developer kit, they would have thousands of people signing up by the minute.

Damn, that's quite pricy.

Well this is cool, but not for me or just about any one else on this site.Never used the old kinect, and I probably won't use this one. But we will just have to wait and see.

slapshot101 $400 is a bit steep for the developer kits especially since it is just the Kinect, I don't know of many developers who will use the Kinect on PC.

I don't know many people that would use the Kinect, period

I know for a fact I wouldn't.

I never use the kinect neither the playstation camera, I just game :)

It just takes up space in my opinion. When my Xbox 360 Elite got RROD I got the Slim that came with the Kinect and the Kinect just sat and collected dust. I eventually sold it to GameStop just to get rid of it.
