Titanfall: Why It Doesn't Have Single-Player

4.3
Titanfall doesn’t contain a single-player campaign because only a small percentage of players will finish the mode.

Speaking with GI International, Respawn studio head Vince Zampella said it takes a seperate team months to create such a campaign, and if no virtually one will finish it, there’s no point.

Plus, the studio is rather “small startup,” with only “60-some developers.

“We make these single-player missions that take up all the focus of the studio, that take a huge team six months to make, and players run through it in eight minutes,” said Zampella. “And how many people finish the single-player game? It’s a small percentage. It’s like, everyone plays through the first level, but 5% of people finish the game.

“Really, you split the team. They’re two different games. They’re balanced differently, they’re scoped differently. But people spend hundreds of hours in the multiplayer experience versus ‘as little time as possible rushing to the end’ [in single-player]. So why do all the resources go there?

“To us it made sense to put it here. Now everybody sees all those resources, and multiplayer is better. For us it made sense.”

Titanfall is coming to PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in early 2014.

I think it's better that they come out and say this instead of people buying the game and surprise, there is no campaign.

Zer0 No single player so so dumb
cant they see sales are gone be lost from those who dont have live or without internet at some point as in traveling

I don't think they will go down that much as a lot of people will still get the game just to get it. If their sales go down because of this, then hey I stand corrected.

considering its exclusive to microsoft and the xbox one was supposed to require the connection every day i'm sure they were assuming you'd be playing online. besides most people that play shooters do play for online mostly. personally i applaud this as i've only really enjoyed a few campaigns and usually never play them anymore, i'd rather have an insanely addictive and fun multiplayer that i'll play for hundreds of hours vs the 10-ish hour single player modes.

This is true. For the people who don't have live it is going to be a problem though. Most people really don't finish the campaign of games unless it's co-op, something like saints row or dead space. It is relatively a small team and would take them a very long time just to get 1/4 of the campaign finished. Also let's say the campaign is an average length campaign of say about 8 - 10 hours, compare that to the hundreds of hours people will be playing multiplier for.

You need to have single player, it shows the backround of the game..

I love playing single player as much as muliplayer. I like to play the stories that people come up with.

They have a point, the amount of time it takes to make a campaign is far greater than the play duration.

Why will no one finish it? Am i missing something because i'm sure a LARGE percentage of players usually complete game campaigns. It's basically a rip-off selling it without one
