Xbox One requires online connection every 24 hours, at least

4.2
The Xbox One needs to connect to the internet at least once every 24 hours, or its ability to play games is shut down, a post on Xbox Wire says. This is for a player logged into his own console – if a player logs into his account on a separate console at a friend's house, for example, the Xbox One needs to be connected to the internet at least once every hour.

"With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library," Xbox Wire writes. "Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies."

This is the clearest explanation of the Xbox One's internet requirements since Microsoft's reveal on May 21. In a post it removed from Xbox Wire, Microsoft said the console "does not have to be always connected, but Xbox One does require a connection to the Internet."

Microsoft recommends a broadband internet connection of 1.5Mbps for the Xbox One, and suggests mobile broadband for those without access to an Ethernet connection. Xbox One has two wireless antennas, and a gigabit Ethernet port and 802.11n wireless.

"Because every Xbox One owner has a broadband connection, developers can create massive, persistent worlds that evolve even when you're not playing," Xbox Wire says.

So if I don't connect to the internet in 24 hours, are offline games shut down permanently, or just until I connect again?

Stealth Stop being babys about requiring a online connection. If you're online right now on this forums, I don't see how it would be a problem putting the console online either. They might right now sound like idiots and are being irrational, but this may be a beneficial when the console comes out. I don't understand how it might be difficult to have a wifi router at home, or a connection over 1mb. If your connection is under 1mb, it's time to get out of the 20th century dial up, and switch providers or research for other providers. If your going on vacation somewhere and want to play, PHONE TETHERING
In certain college dorms, xbox live ports are blocked. So how the hell will they play you naive *****.

Its Called get A PS4 If You Don't Like Xbox's Terms, I'm Just Fine With Them.

Do we know for sure if PS4 does/doesn't have this requirement? I'm curious.

Ignorance at its finest. Suppose there's a storm that knocks out your internet, or the internet company decides to do maintenance, or your router breaks and you don't have the money for a new one. Then what? I guess you're stuck without your Xbox One until the issues is resolved. And phone tethering can be expensive as hell, so that's not an option for everyone. ALSO, not everyone lives in town where good internet is available. I live literally 5 minutes away from the closest town and I can't get internet speeds over 1.5 Mb/s. I might make the requirement, but that doesn't mean someone in a different area will. High speed internet isn't available in every area. Whether you want to believe it or not, there's a lot of situations where this has the potential to screw you over. Even if it doesn't happen to you, it's bound to happen to thousands of people who are less fortunate than you.

It says 1.5mbs is rrecommended not required, and most providers will replace your router for free btw. i get a free one from windstream when mine breaks once a year.

When is everyone going to grow up. Chances are if you can post on TheTechGame, you should have NO problem connecting your X-Box One to internet ONCE every 24 hours.

This is dumb. Why ruin people's lives that can't afford internet?

So what if someone finds out how to hack Xbox One?
What if its like Xbox360 where u have to play offline with a hacked console?

This sucks for the thousands of people out there without internet. Plus i know it is only a recommendation but I have under the 1.5 mbps connection. Will there be a minimum connection speed because that would be just crazy.
