Xbox One requires online connection every 24 hours, at least

4.2
The Xbox One needs to connect to the internet at least once every 24 hours, or its ability to play games is shut down, a post on Xbox Wire says. This is for a player logged into his own console – if a player logs into his account on a separate console at a friend's house, for example, the Xbox One needs to be connected to the internet at least once every hour.

"With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library," Xbox Wire writes. "Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies."

This is the clearest explanation of the Xbox One's internet requirements since Microsoft's reveal on May 21. In a post it removed from Xbox Wire, Microsoft said the console "does not have to be always connected, but Xbox One does require a connection to the Internet."

Microsoft recommends a broadband internet connection of 1.5Mbps for the Xbox One, and suggests mobile broadband for those without access to an Ethernet connection. Xbox One has two wireless antennas, and a gigabit Ethernet port and 802.11n wireless.

"Because every Xbox One owner has a broadband connection, developers can create massive, persistent worlds that evolve even when you're not playing," Xbox Wire says.

Seriously why is everyone commenting on forums complaining cause if you are you have Internet so it shouldn't matter unless you are trying to modify the system which is why this was put in place.

LowProfile528 This is stupid. Microsoft needs to know that not everyone is going to keep their Xbox at their house where there is a stable internet connection.

Stable connection or not, it only has to be online 1 hour per day.

i really dont understand why their doing this, like are they trying to kill the xbox, less games, required internet connection, no xbla games, like seriously microsoft your going to end your own console, and on top of all that it looks like a dvr.

Microsoft needs to be careful. They are going to dig their own grave if they continue. I have a constant internet connection, but I know not everyone does. I shouldn't be required to have one to play games. Some people couldn't care less about "worlds that evolve even if you're not playing." Not everyone cares to be linked to everyone. I should be able to play with or without an internet connection 24/7/365.

Stealth Dang, had more in the post then came out. Anyways it's called Phone tethering or a hotel with wifi.

Don't hotels charge a lot for wifi? If they do charge for wifi at hotels, then I would imagine playing on the Xbox One would run the hotel bill up a lot.

Stop being babys about requiring a online connection. If you're online right now on this forums, I don't see how it would be a problem putting the console online either. They might right now sound like idiots and are being irrational, but this may be a beneficial when the console comes out. I don't understand how it might be difficult to have a wifi router at home, or a connection over 1mb. If your connection is under 1mb, it's time to get out of the 20th century dial up, and switch providers or research for other providers. If your going on vacation somewhere and want to play, PHONE TETHERING

The connecting it once every 24 hours isn't really a problem for me as I normally keep my Xbox 360 connected to the internet but I know this will still affect me and others. I have had my internet go out before and I'm sure everyone else has. If the internet goes out and then 24 hours have passed you can't play it. They should have at least made it where games on CD would still work, internet connection or not.
