Xbox One to cost $399, PS4 for $349 says Pachter

4.4
Xbox One will retail at $399 at launch, while PS4 will run you $349, according to Wedbush Morgan Analyst Michael Pachter.

GI.biz reports that Pachter made his predictions in a pre-E3 address to investors today, during which the analyst placed the PS4′s build cost per console at $275, and added that the Xbox One will cost $325 per unit.

Pachter added that Microsoft may still consider a subscription-based Xbox One model at cheaper cost, which backs up rumours of a $299 version.

In the address, Pachter added, “We believe the ability to watch live TV from a cable, telco, or satellite set-top box through Xbox One could entice an MSO to drive subscriptions through a subsidised box in exchange for a multi-year contract. The ‘always connected’ requirement for the Xbox One likely means that a broadband connection will be required, suggesting to us that ISPs may have an incentive to offer a subsidy as well.

“In addition, Microsoft could conceivably subsidise the Xbox One through prepaid Xbox Live Gold subscriptions (as it has done on a limited basis in the past) or premium Skype functionality as well. Similarly, Sony could subsidise the PS4 through prepaid PlayStation Network subscriptions, but unlike Microsoft, it does not have a history of doing so.”

What do you make of the prices above? Do they make sense or are they too expensive? Let us know below.

SweetTealsGood 399 dollars isn't that bad! It has a blue ray DVD player, 500 GB HDD, a built in wireless adapter, comes with a controller, and has Kinect 2.0!

Would rather pay $250 for the console without Kinect 2.0

I think I'm going to call bullsh*t on this one, I can't see them going that low for Next-Gen consoles. Fair play if they are though.

I hope it's this price, I can't afford $700 for a new xbox.

MON good price
But The games are $100 each so thats $500 for an xbox one unless a bundle is cheaper. most likely not :(
Im still going to get xbox one

They would never make the game $100 each, its to expensive. That's about 65% higher than the current costs of games. I'm guessing 360 games will decrease and the One games will take the $60 price, or maybe go up to $70. game prices have never jumped $40 because of new console releases.

$400 is a lot cheaper than I thought, I was thinking like 500-600. So glad to see this price.

kal45 They are not going to sell it for that low, the least they would sell it is about 425 minimum.

they said it's going to be 400$, you say it's not going to be that cheap and you say 425$ which is not much more.
