Microsoft files complaint over XboxOne.com domain

4.5
Microsoft may have unveiled their brand new Xbox One console but one thing it didn’t do is launch new domains for that trademarked name. Sure, users can always go to Xbox.com but about XboxOne.com? Or XboxOne.net? Well those don’t belong to Microsoft just yet, and the company is fighting to get them.

Curious folks have always paid attention to Microsoft-registered domains so buying up XboxOne.com for example, would have ousted the name of the new console. Because they had to wait, Microsoft is now hurrying to register all the relevant domains for its Xbox One brand.

And as such they have filed a complaint with the National Arbitration Forum over the domains XboxOne.com and XboxOne.net, both of which are currently owned by a UK resident.

Microsoft generally has a lot of success when it comes to these kinds of disputes so there’s very little chance of things not going the way they want them to.

xSTaTiCBLuEx What right do they have to take a lawsuit out? That's totally uinfair. The current owner owns it fair and squar, end of surely.

You can legally seize any domain created with the clear intention to obstruct your business.

i would personally sell it to them xD

I doubt they're even going to use them anyway, because simply 'Xbox' is better, they'll probably just have them redirect to their normal website.

Jigee People register these domains when bi consoles are released for two different reasons.

1. They plan on scamming people for special information straight after a reveal.

2. They plan on making MS pay them an exorbitant of money for the domain to get it back.

Don't complain about MS fighting to get these from the people.

At the end of the day, Microsoft think that because they are a big company, they can get the domain for free. I think they should pay the owner of the site, with all the money they will be charging folk for used games and Xbox LIVE, not to mention any other accessories, they will be swimming in it!

Micro should really pay for the domains of the people instead of fighting to win a case.

What the people who own the domain should do is, is say you can have it for 100M dollars and a sig of bill gates, thats about 130M LAWLS
