Microsoft: No cross-platform play between Xbox One and Xbox 360

4.8
Don't expect any cross-platform play between Xbox 360 and Xbox One. That's what Microsoft Xbox UK marketing manager Harvey Eagle confirmed to Videogamer.

"Because of the different architecture of the systems it's not possible. Your Xbox Live account on 360 will carry over to Xbox One. That same account will work on both platforms. The multiplayer won't," Eagle told Videogamer. The Xbox 360 is built on PowerPC architecture, while the Xbox One utilizes an x86 chipset – so no purchased games will transfer to the new system.

The Xbox One was announced by Microsoft yesterday during its Redmond campus Xbox reveal event. The Xbox One is due to launch later this year. Xbox Live profiles and corresponding Achievements on Xbox 360 will carry over to Xbox One, which also bumps up the friends limit to 1,000.

Thats a little bad, but does not surprise me at all.

I hope you can still join Xbox LIVE party chat with people from Xbox 360 and Xbox One

Not surprising. The 360 wouldn't have the power to play Xbox One games. They are going to have to cut some things for the 360 versions. That being said, it's really not surprising this was going to happen unless the newer games were going to be based off of the 360 hardware. I do believe though that if I buy Assassin's Creed 4 and Call of Duty: Ghosts that both versions of the game should come in the box. I'm buying a game, not a version of the game. This isn't Pokemon after all.

GamerWoo Yessss! 1,000 Friends!

Now that means Xbox 360 +100 and Xbox One+

So now im going to have 1,100, cant wait to tell my mom.

You can only have up to 1,000 friends, not 1,100.

he means on xbox 360 he will have 100 friends, on xbox one he will have 1000 friends, the acc can be used on both platforms xbox 360 and xbox one, add the friends up, it equels 1,100 friends on the same account however you will not see xbox 360 friends over on xbox one unless they as well have their xbox 360 acc connected xbox one. so added it does = 1100 friends,

This doesn't surprise me. Didn't think there ever would be cross play with an old gen and new gen.

Human it just gets worse

How is this worse? You can say that when PS4 announce cross-platform gaming for the PS4. This was obvious to everyone, everyone who has the slightest clue about technology.
It's hilarious watching people nit-picking over the Xbox, so ungrateful, naive and ignorant.

Exacly wath i thought.
