PS5 Pro ‘Very Development Friendly’ Even for Small Studios – Report

3.4
Expect to see a wide variety of PS5 Pro enhanced games from studios both big and small, if a dev statement is anything to go by. Apparently, Sony has made the development workflow for PS5 Pro quite convenient even for small teams, ensuring that enhancements for the hardware aren’t limited to big games.

List of PS5 Pro enhanced games continues to grow
Over on ResetEra (thanks, TwistedVoxel), a dev who goes as Koralsky revealed that they are working on two games with native PS5 Pro support, one of which will get an enhancement patch while the other will launch with enhancements.

“The update workflow for the new console is very development friendly – even for a very small studio like us,” the dev wrote. “Also, even without native support our game was running MUCH better as we are using DRS and unlocked FPS (up to 120). So I am expecting excellent results in every PS5 game using DRS and/or targeting 60 FPS or more.”

This sounds quite promising. In a separate post, Koralsky said that while they’re not at liberty to share more information, they reckon that PS5 Pro is just the beginning of Sony’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology.

“I am exploring the idea to add options for choosing between TSR or PSSR,” Koraksky continued. “Right now, I am changing between both with a push of a button in runtime and it’s quite interesting to see the differences between both on the same hardware configuration. Both are quite impressive, but there’s IQ stuff where PSSR is clearly better.”

PS5 Pro will launch on November 7.
