EA extends FIFA license to 2022

4.6
EA Sports has extended its existing licensing agreement with FIFA until December 31, 2022.

Under the terms of the agreement, EA Sports retains the exclusive rights to release FIFA-branded action and management games, including the official World Cup title.
EA Sports head Andrew Wilson said: "EA Sports released the first FIFA-branded soccer game in 1993, and 20 years later our partnership with FIFA continues to be very strong.

"Our franchise has become the benchmark for quality and innovation in the sports videogame genre, and we look forward to many more years of connecting with consumers around the world with our games carrying the prestigious FIFA name."

FIFA secretary general Jérôme Valcke commented: "Our relationship with EA Sports is of high importance to FIFA. The FIFA videogames are a key experiential component in our work to communicate the FIFA brand and its values all over the world."

EA claims that over 65 million games of FIFA are played weekly, and that FIFA 13 sales topped 14.5 million units during the financial year ended March 31.

The publisher officially announced FIFA 14 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC last month, noting that "additional formats" will be revealed in the coming months.

UK retailer GAME is listing a FIFA 14 release date of October 4, although official launch plans have yet to be confirmed.

Origamo There is no need for any more FIFA games.

That is one stupidest comment I have seen today, congratulations.

Graphics and software will always be changing so will games, that is why FIFA's will always be released year in year out. If EA have the chance to make money, they will.
