Bloodborne Has Been Played From Start To Finish On PC

3.9
Bloodborne fans have a tough time of it more often than not, but PlayStation's most recent State of Play showcase has rankled them something fierce. Having already firmly given up hope of a remaster or PC port ever happening, with almost every other first-party game in PlayStation's locker getting the remaster instead, the announcement of a Horizon Zero Dawn remaster was enough to tip some over the edge.

It really does feel like PlayStation is happy to abandon Bloodborne on the PS4 for the foreseeable future, but we all know that where big publishers fail to step up, there's an army of modders in the wings waiting to make them look like fools. In this case, work on a PS4 emulator has been going on behind the scenes for a while, enough that the hopes of getting Bloodborne on PC are looking less doomed.

Back in July this year, a person working on an emulator called ShadPS4 announced that work had begun to get Bloodborne up and running on PC, as they had managed to get the game's title screen running for the first time. A month later, the opening cutscene ran pretty much perfectly, while another month would see the game's opening actually playable.

Now that we're approaching the end of the month, it seems as though massive strides have been made to get Bloodborne in a playable state, and one PC player claims they've managed to play the game from start to finish with barely any issues. The individual in question goes by the name Yapush_Khu on the BloodbornePC subreddit, who posted a screenshot of them defeating Margo's Wet Nurse.

According to Yapush_Khu, they were able to start a playthrough with a brand-new character and complete the game using the ShadPS4 emulator. They also claim that they've managed to start Bloodborne's DLC too, accessing the expansion with no problem and experiencing almost no issues with the game itself.

Unfortunately, the game doesn't run as well as it does on PS4, which will obviously be a massive issue for a lot of players. Yapush_Khu had to use a decent amount of mods to get the game into a playable state, and even then, they explained that this version of the game's shaders and lighting aren't amazing. Fire was also invisible during their playthrough, making certain fire-spewing bosses a bit of a challenge. While it sounds like the PS4 version of Bloodborne is still the best performing at the moment, there's no denying this is a massive step towards getting an improved version of the game running on PC, something which PlayStation itself seems allergic to offering people. This is also the result of about three months of work, so who knows how the game will perform in another three months from now?

I beat the entire game, from start to finish, on emulator.

beggars can't be choosers when playing on pc emulators

issues will develop, and it's best to address these with the emu devs

But glad Yapush_Khu was able to work around, take note and able to play this eventually with almost no issues

I mean if your tight for choice I doubt you'd be worried about the odd laps in performance
