Microsoft pushed back next Xbox reveal because it's not afraid of PS4?

4.6
There's been a lot of chatter on the Internet lately about the details for the next version of Microsoft's Xbox console. Officially, Microsoft still isn't talking, but new and unconfirmed rumors claim Microsoft is aiming for a first reveal of the hardware and games at a small event on May 21st, with a bigger reveal set for E3 2013 in June.

Previous rumors claimed that Microsoft was planning to reveal the next Xbox sometime in April, but now a new story from Bloomberg, via unnamed sources, claims that Microsoft decided to push back the next Xbox announcement until May because the company "saw little competitive pressure from Sony." That company surprised many in the game industry by officially revealing the PlayStation 4 console at an event in February, with a launch planned for the holiday period of 2013.

The same Bloomberg story repeated previously reported rumors that the next Xbox would have a processor and graphics chip both provided by AMD, which is confirmed as providing that hardware for the PS4. It also mentioned that the console may not be backwards compatible with current Xbox 360 games because of the AMD hardware, which was also mentioned by Electronic Arts' chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen mentioned as a strong possibility in February.

GR33NV3N0M ive always said that the ps3 was more of a multi-media console rather than a pure gaming console where as the 360 was just for gaming.

For me i found that the ps3 had better exclusive titles than the xbox in terms of single player games such as INfamous 1 + 2 and the god of war series. But the ps3 was also bought because it had a blue ray functionality as well as the ability to browse the internet, where as the xbox 360 diddnt.

However i think the Xbox did a much better job in terms of game play and online game play, i have both a ps3 and a 360. When i play my ps3 online most games are laggy in comparison to Xbox and no its not because ive got a **** internet connection, i use virgin media and i typically receive around 89-93 mb/s all the time. Which is damn good. You get what you pay for and you pay for xbox live which means its going to be better.

This looks like it is going to be the case again, the PS4 comes with this new Share feature etc, which looks and sounds pretty damn cool ill admit in a world where everyone uses social media and you can stream your gameplay to your friends via facebook or twitter or whatever else. But i would much prefer a completely solid gaming experience and forgo having horrible lag.

either way i think both consoles will have great potential, there's no need for fan boy wars.

The PS3 has always been more of a blue ray player than a gaming station, probably about a third of PS3 sales werent for gaming reasons
