Next gen Xbox will have Blu-Ray!

4.2
Earlier today, a Microsoft Durango Development Kit popped up on the internet. Included with the leak were 5 images of the "Microsoft Durango XDK Documentation Setup" which shed light on previously unknown parts of the console's hardware and functionality.

What we find to be the most significant aspect of the leaked documentation can be seen in the image below. It says: "Durango consoles will have a Blu-Ray Disc drive. Disc media will be used for distribution, but during gameplay, games will not use content from the optical disc." What do you think of this?

A BluRay disk hold 50GB of data as compared to the current gen disk they only hold 8GB. This will allow vastly larger games with with better graphics for both the SP and MP. The new consoles will have 8GB of Ram, a BluRay and a Better Processor so this will be the start of the console gaming revolution, the line dividing pc and console gaming is beginning to grow thinner and thinner. Expect more pc games to pop on consoles in the coming years such as WOW, League of Legends, DayZ, Arma, and so much more!

Poi_Jr That will raise the price of the console...I dont know why they added this since everyone torrents movies now a days.

I know, that's so true, but ohh well. It is not a bad feature to have.

That will honestly add about $90 to the price of the 720. Blue-Ray is expensive.

90$ that I do not need. Blu-ray is annoying to watch sometimes. It's almost to realistic for me.

How can games be too realistic... the more realistic the better

No, because I can go on newegg and get a Blu-ray burner for $50. As another user pointed out, when they mass produce it, MS is buying in bulk so the price would be even lower than $50. The price of Blu-ray has dropped since 2010.

They're gonna be mass producing these consoles like crazy. It won't add even near $90 to the overall price. When companies buy in bulk they save A LOT of money.

They did it so the games could have more storage 8.5gb is all a dvd can hold where as a blu-ray can hold up to 50gb.
