Minecraft Player Builds Playable Tetris Using Redstone

3.8
An inventive Minecraft player has crafted a fully playable Tetris game within their in-game world, using Redstone to power the automated mini-game. The sandbox world of the massively popular game from developer Mojang offers players a wide variety of things to do within its enormous procedurally-generated worlds. Minecraft has regularly added new content to the game, introducing more animals and enemies for players to encounter, new types of biomes, and a variety of new items and objects to find. However, one of the game's mechanics offers a unique kind of creativity.

Redstone has served as one of Minecraft's most popular items due to the wide array of uses for the powdery ore. Redstone allows players to add automated functions into their in-game world, used to create powered rails for mine carts or acting as a power source for items like redstone lamps. Redstone has often been used to craft stunning and unique automated creations within Minecraft, even bringing games like Guitar Hero and Minesweeper into the game's blocky world. Now, one fan has created a stunning playable version of Tetris within Minecraft.

A video shared by mattbatwings2 on the Minecraft subreddit shows off the impressive Tetris build within the sandbox game. The build features a towering in-game Tetris board, fully controllable by the player and showcasing the player's "next piece." The Tetris game features a fully-functioning score counter and operates just like a normal game of Tetris, showing off four lines disappearing when completing a "Tetris line clear" within the game. The user also confirms that the build was fully completed using only Redstone, without utilizing any mods.

The impressive build saw many fans praising the Tetris game within the comments, as well as more details from the creator about the project. According to the user, the build does utilize a special texture pack to capture that authentic Tetris look, replacing some redstone textures with the colors of the Tetriminos. The creator also confirmed the Tetris game features "full collision detection" and rotation and scoring based on Tetris' NES version. The explanation from the creator also shares details about how the Tetris game was created, utilizing a mix of dust, torches, repeaters, and comparators.
