Nintendo loses lawsuit over 3DS patent infringement

4.7
A federal jury has found Nintendo guilty of infringing on the 3D display patent of Seijiro Tomita of Tomita Technologies, awarding Tomita $30.2 million in damages.

Tomita first filed the lawsuit back in 2011 – his patent for "technology relating to displaying stereoscopic images on-screen for viewing with the naked eye, i.e., without utilizing glasses or other devices" was originally filed in 2003 and granted in 2008.

The defense attorney representing Nintendo, Scott Lindvall, argues that the Nintendo 3DS doesn’t use the key aspects of Tomita’s patent.

Ah. I hate to see Nintendo getting beat the crap out of like this. Not saying that the lawsuit was unfair btw. Just that I remember the amazing times I had when the original "The Brick" Nintendo DS came out. I really got into the GBA, and I remember playing Pokmon Blue Rescue Team, and absolutely loving it. The storyline, the depth, the new innovation. Amazing. And then, to make it even better, I could play my copy of Emerald and Ruby on it? It just doesn't get any better. I've owned a lot of consoles in my life, played a very large amount of time on PC, but none of it can compare to the amazing time spent playing those games. Well, I guess what I'm getting at is, Nintendo needs to worry about game quality. Not "It's in 3D so it will make millions". I don't buy games because I can play in 3D, I actually hate 3D video games. I don't even necessarily buy games because of their graphical points. I buy games because I want to enjoy them. Games that are well worth $40. Games that I will put on a shelf, and take down when I want to spend mindless hours leveling up. Nintendo needs to imho, get on the right track. Games like Pokmon Mystery Dungeon, LoZ Phantom Hourglass, and Drawn To Life are games that really create that "Handheld" experience. Not that I can see my character in a new PoV. That's my take.

I agree, I wish they would go back to making their originals. They shouldn't get caught up in Nintendo 3DS shenanigans.

Yeah they need to go back to normal ds

Nintendo needs to understand that their system wont amount to anything for as long as they appeal to kids

_Kevin_ ...when will they get it? You know. How people don't find their games as interesting as the ones on the Xbox and PS.

Except for Pokemon though that was a success

Is that why the Wii is the best selling console ever or the DS series the best selling hand held and Nintendo the most successful gaming company ever?
You just keep playing the new COD every year with the other kids.It looks like it's you that doesn't "get it" How on earth would they be anywhere near bankrupt because the Wii U has only sold a few million in it's first few moths of release? wow they really must be struggling ...the same thing happened with the PS3 when it launched and now it's over taken the 360,which puts Microsoft on the bottom.Just because a few little kids on here don't like Nintendo ( or say they don't so they can act mature ) because Nintendo is !only for kids" I can just see them with their parents buying Black Ops 2 for them lol
