Saber Confirms Continued Work On "A Number Of Titles"

3.2
Saber Interactive COO Tim Willits confirmed that the studio is still at work on a number of titles--including Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, and Jurassic Park: Survival--after its split with former owner Embracer.

Willits shared the news on Twitter/X, but did not elaborate on what other games were still under development or whether any others had been canceled as part of Saber's departure. Embracer will continue to publish some games from Saber-owned studios like Killing Floor 3, Teardown, and past and future Metro titles, so presumably all those are still on the way.

Embracer's deal with Saber Interactive was valued at $217 million, though Saber CEO Matthew Karch reportedly purchased 4A Games and Zen Studios via stock options, raising the total value of the deal to $500 million. Embracer is retaining the rights to 14 games in development at Saber, and many of the exact games are unknown, though 4A Games' next AAA project is included.

After a $2 billion investment from a Saudi-backed fund fell through, Embracer began drastic cost-cutting measures. In the last six months, Embracer has canceled 29 unannounced games and laid off close to 1,400 employees. Among the titles canceled is an unannounced Dues Ex game. Embracer also shut down Saints Row developer Volition. The group is reportedly seeking buyers for Gearbox Interactive.
