Maxis: SimCity offline mode 'Just not possible'

4.5
The issues with SimCity stem from its requirement that players are always online and connected to EA's servers, even if a player wants to experience the game alone. Making the game available offline could solve many players' issues, but that's "just not possible," developer Maxis General Manager Lucy Bradshaw said during a Twitter Q&A session.

"The game was designed for MP, we sim the entire region on the server so this is just not possible," She said said, in response to a question about offline modes. Previously she responded to another question about an offline patch: "We have no intention of offlining SimCity any time soon but we'll look into that as part of our earning back your trust efforts."

This game costs $59.99 on Amazon, probably because it came out almost 2 weeks ago.

Yeah it's relatively new

Krumble I have just posted a tutorial on how to get the Debug mode and on how to play offline in the Pc Gaming section. It is possible with a little bit of coding and replacing of files!

I saw that, it's a nice find and all, but it's not fair to other people if you can edit their cities, not just your own.

I know, but that comes with the Debug mode. I can not change that as of now. Only thing you can edit in there city is like the features that come with Debug, like the highways...etc. You can place parks too and transportation. Thats it.

Whirlpool It's not impossible. They just don't want to add it cause they know Call of Duty and Far Cry and Battlefield are beating them by a LONGSHOT! :D

If they added it I'm sure their sales would almost double.

What do you mean by that? EA made both Battlefield and this, they are the same company.

I'm saying that if SimsCity were to add "offline singleplayer" the sales would probably double what they are now, over time of course. the other guy is declaring that FPS games are better then a life simulation game, dunno how you could really compare the two since they're completely different games.
