Microsoft to discontinue the Gold Family Pack

Microsoft has confirmed to Joystiq that they have discontinued the popular Gold family pack. What this means for current Family gold pack customers is that their family center settings management suite is still available for them... at this time.

When asked why this bundle which for just $99.99 gave the user four year long gold subscriptions they responded the following:

"We continually evaluate our business focus and work to offer services that make the most sense for our customers and Xbox."

But the Kinect sells much better than this.


It's hardware, that makes perfect sense.

What he's saying is the Kinect is a more family driven prodcut like the Wii so it makes little sense to cut a family deal.

Kinnect definatly sold more than the family plan. Cause most parents with small kids don't need their kids to be going online anyways.

I think the Kinect is selling/sold better. Unusual, really.


They were losing money and they wouldn't have canceled it if there were a lot of people that used it, so they probably did have a lot using the Gold Family Pack so they cut the program.
