Microsoft: Valve isn't a threat to consoles; everyone is wary of Apple

4.5
Microsoft doesn't view Valve as a competitor in the console universe, Microsoft President of Interactive Entertainment Business Don Mattrick said during Microsoft's TechForum. Valve is "doing some innovative stuff," Mattrick says, but when it comes to direct competition, "no."

"The scale of products and things that are being brought to market are probably a little bit richer when I look at Sony, Nintendo, Apple and Google," he says.

Valve boss Gabe Newell recently noted that Apple is the Steam Box's (Image above) biggest threat, since it already controls such a large portion of the market with the App Store.
Nat Brown, the man who gave the original Xbox its name and former Microsoft leader, also sees Apple's potential to own the console game.

"Apple, if it chooses to do so, will simply kill PlayStation, Wii U and Xbox by introducing an open 30 percent-cut app/game ecosystem for Apple TV,"

Mazur that would be kinda lame if Apple made a console. it would be like $1000 or something and wouldn't even be good. Mac's don't have many games in the first place :|
That's true. I think this will be a product from Apple that will fail.

Are you sure they are even making it anymore? I thought they attempted and failed?

apple console would suck worse than wii and be overpriced

Apple just shouldn't make a console. It will not be very successful.

People thinking that Apple's games are exclusive to the Mac, erm look at the iPod, iPhone and iPad...Apple have signed a release form to all sellers to say they pwn 50% of all shares, and copyrights to the app released. So that means, if I make an app called 'Xbox 720' and then Microsoft make a console named that, Apple will be able to sue Microsoft a lot of money for that, and then so would I.

Wilez Correct me if im wrong, but didn't apple already try to create a console?...that failed?

I think they did, but if Apple did make a console i'm pretty sure only Apple fanboys will go for that console and considering the fact that it's an Apple product it's going to cost at least 250% more than the next-gen consoles.

Lets do the math, next-gen playstation said to be $300. 250% of 300 is 2.5x300=$750. Which is as you can imagine over priced as f*ck. Just like ALL other Apple products..

I wouldn't buy it, that's out of their reach.

yeah that much for a console, I dont think so...
