Though the dwarves are traditionally depicted as a small and stocky race with long beards and hair, they are also known to be great miners and metalworkers who ply their trade within their deep mountain halls. As one of the first series to put the dwarves in the spotlight, one of the more popular dwarves from The Lord of the Rings was Gimli, son of Gloin. While his feats in the novels and films are numerous, Gimli is also a playable character in some games, such as EA's The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. While dwarves like Gimli are often depicted with Scottish accents as thick as their beards, the dwarves are reliable in both combat and in digging their way out of danger.
Due to their popularity within the fantasy genre, Valve chose to give Steam users a way to give the dwarves their due. A Reddit user named ichbinhamma posted a picture on the r/Steam subreddit of the 'dwarf' tag in action. In their screenshot, the OP showed that clicking on the new Steam tag would bring users to a page that features different titles that have dwarves in them in some fashion. One of the top sci-fi co-op games on Steam, Deep Rock Galactic, is among the top results that appear on the dwarf tag page. Other games such as Warhammer: Vermintide 2, Dwarf Fortress, Craft the World, and Below the Stone were shown off as well.

One of the more surprising entries on Steam's dwarf tag page is the long-running MMORPG EverQuest. Despite the dwarf tag featuring a plethora of notable titles that feature playable dwarves, some Steam games such as The Lord of the Rings Online were notably absent from it. However, Steam players can suggest which tags can be applied to various games, so it remains to be seen which games will be added to the dwarf tag in the future.
With titles ranging from LEGO: The Lord of the Rings to the Might & Magic series, the new Steam tag dedicated to the dwarves is a neat change. Only time will tell how many tags based on fantastical races or species will be added down the line.
