GTA 5’s Rockstar Editor is shutting down on PS4 & Xbox One

Rockstar has announced that it will be shutting down the Rockstar Editor in the last-gen versions of Grand Theft Auto 5.

According to a new article on the Rockstar support page, “the Rockstar Editor will no longer be available in Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles as of February 20, 2024″.

It adds: “This change is necessary to allow us to support ongoing updates to these games on both platforms.”

Rockstar also notes that all clips and projects created on the Rockstar Editor will be deleted on February 20 along with the mode itself, meaning players will have to exportanything they want to keep.

The Rockstar Editor lets players record footage while playing Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA Online, then use those recordings to create, edit and share video clips.

Players can use the Editor to arrange numerous clips, apply filters, add music and text and perform other editing functions, essentially allowing them to create their own short movies using the GTA engine.

It also includes a Director Mode, where players can control any of the game’s 277 character models in a Free Mode map, giving them more control over their movies.

According to Rockstar, “all Clips or Projects will be deleted on February 20, 2024, when the Rockstar Editor is removed” from the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

If players using those versions want to save any of their videos, they will have to connect their Rockstar Games account to a YouTube account and upload them using the Editor’s export feature.

The PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the Rockstar Editor will continue to be available as normal.
