Next-Generation Xbox will make Kinect mandatory according to reports

4.5
According to a new claim/rumor that has come out today, the next-generation Xbox will require a Kinect sensor to be plugged in at all times to be able to function.

Every console will be coming with a Kinect, although it will be a much more advanced version of the Kinect, right out of the box.

The new Kinect will apparently be capable of tracking up to six people at the same time, and can track smaller things such as hands and fingers, facial recognition, and even facial expressions.

According to reports, the next-gen console will also have multi-tasking capabilities, including the ability to run more than one game at a time. Another feature could be one that allows you to "suspend" a game, meaning you can switch to another game and then back without losing your exit point in either.

Also, reports say that unlike the Xbox 360, all Durango consoles will come with a 500GB internal hard drive. Also, full disc games will require mandatory installation on the first boot-up, but the installation can be done in the background while you are playing the game.

Recently, reports from Edge have come out that the new Xbox will require an always-on internet connection, which will allow Microsoft to detect and block the people from playing used games.

Reduction
markoz What M$ is doing will be able to spy on all 720 users using the mandatory kinnect and internet connections. **** that!
No thanks M$!

Lol, why would they want to spy on millions of people sitting in front of the TV?

I meant there is going to be huge privacy issues if they continue down this path.
If so the 720 will be a massive failure.

This whole console just sounds ridiculous.

I'm glad we don't have to buy it separately.

I don't even want one, let alone be forced to have one.

Perhaps This rumor about blocking used games really has me concerned, if this does in fact become a reality, I'll be switching consoles. It's a Money grab anyway you look at it. This threatens to do to Gamestop what Netflix did to Blockbuster Video.

Rumor is the PS4 is doing the same thing...

The're all just rumors in the end, nothing is confirmed. Hopefully Microsoft and Sony come to their senses.

But if it's true, PC gaming is where i'm at...

I must agree. Even if their rumors, so far PC has always bested the other consoles. So, I'll more than likely be sticking to that!

~Though I love Xbox, I hope they don't have the whole 'No used games' thing. I can already see an error popping up on my xbox telling me my game is used, because I've played it once on the xbox and it doesn't recognize it.

Microsoft is going downhill

wow!!! Not only with this effect my gaming experience, but it also will effect my job since I work at GameStop.

I don't like that Microsoft is forcing gamers to use their peripheral device just to play the system the customer used their hard money on. I like the option of being able to buy my games used or borrow games from my friends. Sony started it, and now Microsoft is jumping on board. Forcing people to buy new games all the time isn't going to end well.
