Plummiting Xbox sales push Microsoft revenues down

4.7
Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices division generated $3.8 billion in revenue in the last three months of 2012, as 5.9 million Xbox 360 consoles were shipped, which is down from 8.2 million during the same time last year.

The company also made $1.1 billion less than it did last year. According to Microsoft, this was "due mainly to lower volumes of consoles sold and lower video game revenue."

All-in-all, the Entertainment and Devices Division, saw profits up and revenues down. This was due to a reduction in marketing costs, and the latter was a because of dwindling demand for Xbox 360 consoles.

Well maybe they should not be making 3 million dollar deals with skype then using another 8 million on buying stocks a dell -_-

Hopefully the 720 will help this.

I'm kinda glad actually. I love Xbox and don't really care for PS3 at all... but Microsoft is pretty wealthy and also pretty greedy in my opinion. I don't like the customer services for xbox live so i'm glad to see them get hit in some way. They deserve it in my eyes.

Maybe because almost everyone has the/a console now? Because of course people are gonna buy a console as much as others did on release date when it's only half a year away from the announcement of a new console.

It'll take a lot for Microsoft to go down the pooper but if they do I will be saddened :(

Well hopefully they will make up for that off of the xbox 720.

DemonSurfer Most people i know are selling the 360's and getting tablets and PS3's instead, they always have them on the local for sale pages on Facebook and in the papers etc Probably sick of the same old thing. As for the new consoles flying off the shelves, how the hell do you work that out as no one has even seen one yet or any of the games?? I'm sure most people don't just happen to have around 4 - 500 quid lying around just desperate to blow it all on the new XBOX.
Sounds like your a PS3 fanboy, the PS3 is no different than the Xbox just with more screwed up Game lobbies and "hacked" consoles

Why are they selling their xboxes for PS3? that's the burning question here.

Not really surprised this happened. Most people have one now.
