Plummiting Xbox sales push Microsoft revenues down

4.7
Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices division generated $3.8 billion in revenue in the last three months of 2012, as 5.9 million Xbox 360 consoles were shipped, which is down from 8.2 million during the same time last year.

The company also made $1.1 billion less than it did last year. According to Microsoft, this was "due mainly to lower volumes of consoles sold and lower video game revenue."

All-in-all, the Entertainment and Devices Division, saw profits up and revenues down. This was due to a reduction in marketing costs, and the latter was a because of dwindling demand for Xbox 360 consoles.

This is no surprise considering the next-gen Xbox is set to be revealed in the near future, and supposedly to be released near the end of this year. Once it is released, sales figures will rise.

morgsboi Because we're waiting for the next Xbox, Microsoft! Nobody wants to buy a 360 and then have the new one come out!

I know, that's probably the main reason.

I can't wait!

The sooner they come out with the 720, the sooner they will start making money again.

DemonSurfer Most people i know are selling the 360's and getting tablets and PS3's instead, they always have them on the local for sale pages on Facebook and in the papers etc Probably sick of the same old thing. As for the new consoles flying off the shelves, how the hell do you work that out as no one has even seen one yet or any of the games?? I'm sure most people don't just happen to have around 4 - 500 quid lying around just desperate to blow it all on the new XBOX.
Sounds like your a PS3 fanboy, the PS3 is no different than the Xbox just with more screwed up Game lobbies and "hacked" consoles

Not at all,i have all the current consoles, also XBOX is "hacked" with Jtag's and RGH.

PS3's also have jailbraks with are like Jtag's and RGH's

you obviously don't have an xbox if you think all games are "hacked" it cost 75$ for one day just to get online, and most people to their modding in private matches, on PS3 i played it for the first time yesterday in 7 months, and the first game i got into there was text all over the screen people restarting the game if they loose, changing the map, killing teammates, ita terrible
