Nintendo has revealed its financials for the six months ending September 30th, 2023, with updated sales numbers for the Nintendo Switch. While sales for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which launched on October 20th, are unknown, Pikmin 4 is confirmed to have sold 2.61 million units.
By comparison, Pikmin 3 Deluxe was released in December 2020 on the Nintendo Switch and sold 2.4 million copies over the next two years. Pikmin 4 debuted strong in the UK and Japan, becoming the best-selling game for the latter in September. That’s pretty good, considering its development was first announced in 2015.
While retaining the classic action-strategy gameplay of earlier titles, Pikmin 4 introduces new Pikmin species and Oatchi, who serves as a mount and bodyguard. There are also activities like Night Expeditions are also available, as players battle waves of enraged enemies during the night.
