Rumor: PS4 Specs, new controller and account system leaked

4.5
The specs of PlayStation 4 developer kits from January 2013 have reportedly been revealed by official Sony documentation, which were then leaked and put up online.

The information, which was apparently provided by the same person who attempted to sell a pair of next gen Xbox development kits on eBay last year, reveals plans for a new controller and a new approach to user accounts.

The PS4 Dev Kit specs:

System Memory: 8GB
Video Memory: 2.2 GB
CPU: 4x Dual-Core AMD64 "Bulldozer" (8x cores)
GPU: AMD R10xx
Drive: Blu-Ray
HDD: 160GB
Audio Output: HDMI & Optical, 2.0, 5.1 & 7.1 channels
Ports: 4x USB 3.0, 2x Ethernet

Sony is working on a new controller for the PS4, although some developers are said to be working with existing DualShock 3 pads, as well as PS Move.

The new controller is thought to include the four traditional face buttons, two analogue sticks, shoulder triggers of older PlayStation pads, as well as vibration and "improved" motion-sensing. But it's also reported to feature a touch pad, like the one found on the back of the Vita, capable of recognizing two-point multi-touch.

The controller itself can apparently be "clicked" to make an additional input button, and also features a new "Share" button. While no one knows the purpose of this button, it is believed to be linked to a new account system.

According to sources, the PS4 will support "multi-user simultaneous logins", which, by the sound of it, will allow multiple users to be signed into accounts at the same time on a single console, which means they could all unlock Trophies while playing co-op games.

I thought it was before E3, March?

If they make the PSN a lot better, Sony could receive a lot of business...

Big-Foot Xbox is better.

Not true. They both are good for different reasons. I bet you are just biased of your own system and never played PS3.

That's true. Nobody really even knows which console will be better, because they haven't even been released yet. I don't think an honest opinion can be made yet.

I agree, and a lot of the people that bought a PS3 bought it because of Netflix streaming and Blu - Ray, and Xbox has both now :P

He didn't say new Xbox or even Xbox 360. He just said Xbox.

Look above your quoted post.

He stated "Xbox has both, now." (Now = present tense) and it's obvious (unless you're entirely ignorant) that he's talking about the new Xbox as the old Xbox 360 didn't support Blu-Ray. He's clearly stating the next-generation Xbox has Blu-Ray so people who were interested only in the Blu-Ray support for the PlayStation 3 no longer have to limit themselves as both next-generation consoles will support it. Not so hard to understand, is it?

TL;DR - If you enjoy Blu-Ray, the next Xbox has it. So if you're a person who enjoys PlayStation solely for the support of it? You now have choices.

Now I don't feel so bad for calling you out on the ignorance.
