Blockbuster closing 300 US stores.

4.7
Well, it may be the end of an era for Blockbuster in the US, as Dish Network have recently announced that they will be closing 300 stores in the near future, which would mean around 3,000 jobs would be lost.

This announcement comes after the UK branch of Blockbuster filed its own bankruptcy, which then lead to 160 store closures out of 500 in the region.

So if you use Blockbuster's services to buy, or rent games; you may want to change your supplier. As time can't tell what will happen with Blockbuster in the future.

300 hundred stores is nothing. as of 2010 they had 4500 stores in the US. they have been closing stores since then.

unlike Chrysler with almost 60k employees, blockbuster does not have a 'supply chain' of over 300k employees like Chrysler did.

did i mention that they are part-time! as in, people working there are not making a career out of explaining movies/video games to you or me.

Sadly my family will be effected by this.
This is a big deal.
300 stores is a lot of jobs that are just gone.

Not a surprise, my local blockbuster ran out of business a while ago.

It is a shame that this retailer is struggling, it has been around providing it's service for many years. Sadly the same thing is also happening to HMV, another "Great" in my opinion.
