Rumor: More Next-Gen Xbox specs leaked

4.7
In our last article about about the new xbox's specs being leaked, we noted that it could have an eight-core CPU, and an 8800 series GPU. Well, more rumors have emerged over the past two days or so, which includes more information.

Along with the eight-core CPU, and the 8800 series GPU, the Next-Gen system could also include an 800-MHz graphics processor with 12 shader cores "providing a total of 768 threads", capable of a peak raw processing performance of 1.2 teraflops (1.2 trillion floating-point operations per second, tech heads; this should be good for you!). Like in the previous article, we also said the next Xbox could have 8GB of DDR3 RAM, but again, more information has emerged which state that the 8GB of RAM could be supplemented with 32 MB of fast embedded SRAM (Static random access memory.)

The disc drive is apparently a Blu-ray drive capable of reading 50GB Blu-ray discs at x6 read speeds.

The console will also apparently come with "Kinect multi-channel echo cancellation (MEC) hardware" which we have assumed will work together with the next version of the Kinect motion sensor.

Also rumored: there's mention of a 'HDMI 1.4a in', which suggests that the Next-Gem console may be able to receive a video signal from another device, such as a cable or satellite TV box, with the ability to record.

Here is a full list of the reported specs:

CPU:

- x64 Architecture.

- Each CPU thread has its own 32 KB L1 instruction cache, and 32 KB L1 data cache.

- Each module of four CPU cores has a 2 MB L2 cache resulting in a total of 4 MB of L2 cache.

- 8 CPU cores running at 1.6 gigahertz.

- Each core has one fully independent hardware thread with no shared execution resources.

- Each hardware thread can issue two instructions per clock.

GPU:

- Custom D3D11.1 class 800-MHz graphics processor

- 12 shader cores providing 768 threads.

- Each thread can perform one scalar multiplication and addition operation (MADD) per clock cycle.

- At peak performance, the GPU can effectively issue 1.2 trillion floating-point operations per second.

- High-fidelity Natural User Interface (NUI) sensor is always present

Storage and Memory:

- 8GB of DDR3 RAM (68 GB/s)

- 32MB of fast embedded SRAM (102 GB/s)

- From the GPU's perspective, the bandwidths of system memory and ESRAM are parallel providing combined peak bandwidth of 170 GB/s.

- Hard drive is always present.

- Disk Drive capable of reading 50GB Blu-Ray disks at x6 reading speeds.

Networking:

- Gigabit Ethernet

- Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct

Hardware Accelerators:

- Move engines.

- Image, video, and audio codecs.

- Kinect multichannel echo cancellation (MEC) hardware

- Cryptography engines for encryption, decryption, and hashing.

Similarly with the previous article on the rumored specs of the next Xbox, take all of this with a grain of salt. Nothing has been confirmed yet, these are all rumors.

If they raised the price too much nobody would buy it.

L33t-Ninja-Much lets just hope this is going to be awesome

It has to be, they had plenty of time to make it, and they are charging us $350 - $400. Well it at least has to be better than the previous consoles :P
