Halo 4 community playlist, new Spartan Ops and new Specializations

4.5
Halo 4 recently received its first significant update of 2013 on Monday with an all new multi-player playlist, a new episode of Spartan Ops and two specializations unlocked for everyone.

The "Community Forge Test" playlist is now online with six new maps created by Halo 4 community members in Forge which were then selected by 343 Industries. All six maps - Despair, Garrotte, Relay, Scythe, Shutout and Simplex - are small to medium-sized creations made for 4 vs 4 combat in Infinity Slayer, Capture the Flag, King of the Hill and SWAT.

Please take note that the "Test" qualifier in the playlist's name as this is 343 Industries' way of working out any bugs or issues with the maps before possibly adding them to regular multiplayer playlists.

For those waiting for the final five episodes of Spartan Ops, you will finally have your wish granted with the launch of Episode 6. The latest episode brings five more missions that pick up with the cliffhanger at the end of Episode 5 before the series took a break.
343 Industries is promising more variety in locations and missions with the final five episodes including the likelihood that the setting will "move off of Requiem."

Expect a ungodly 2.21 GB download from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Spartan Ops Episodes 6-10 before you start playing.

Monday's update also unlocks two more armor Specializations for everyone that has reached Service Rank 50. These were previously only available to those that received unlock codes for playing the game early.

Pioneer: "Spartan optimization for deployment into uncharted, hostile territory (such as uncolonized worlds or Forerunner constructs like Requiem) for the purpose of gathering and relaying information. The Fast Track armor mod allows Spartans to gain more experiential data from each encounter, effectively ranking up more quickly during the process."

"Pathfinder: Spartan optimization for deep, unconventional deployment within unknown enemy territory and with little to no assistance from command. The Gunner armor mod decreases the time of weapon overheat when occupying a vehicle weapon position, and increases Spartan speed while carrying a detached turret."

Two more specializations will be unlocked on Monday 28th January (Next week) with the last two unlocking on February 4th.

THuNdErModsCoD I hate what they did with the Community Forge Test playlist. Reason for. Half the kids on there would be getting owned right now if the gametypes for the MLG maps that are in there have the MLG gametypes. I find I am going negative one or two because some kid decides ohh I am going to use assault rifles and kick peoples butts with it. While I am like oh this is an MLG map so I am going to use the standard class for it. I use the BR with explosives resupply and frags. Plus thruster and plasma pistol (plasma pistol I don't use) That's the standard GB class. I am upset that we can't use the proper gametype. I just wish they wouldn't have done that. Either way screw you 343 for not putting in the proper gametypes and not sticking MLG into this.

Always something to complain about smh.....

phlegm For some reason I liked Halo 3 a lot better. Too bad I bought the Halo 4 season pass...

I myself enjoyed Halo 3 much more as well.
But Halo 4 is good don't get me wrong.
It just isn't Halo 3.

That's almost exactly how I feel.

Halo 4 is good, but it's just not what Halo 3 was.

TTGxBANANAS I just wish to see some of the old Halo attributes come back :/ Like another member mentioned, where are team doubles? Team Snipers? These are some of my favorite Halo playlists. Also, I'm in no way saying it's a bad game, 343 did a great job, but I really feel that they took away the classic Halo feeling. Such as everyone having the same loadout, and actually waiting for weapon spawns, not killstreaks. I believed Halo Reach had all the class customization the series needed, with multiple classes available for certain gametypes. But alas, I'll be sticking with Campaign playthroughs and Spartan Ops until some new (or old) gametypes are added with the original settings. No twists or turns.

Halo Reach > Halo 4. Sadly... As a die hard Halo fan the only thing that kept me playing Halo 4 was the campaign. Multiplayer was not the worst but I think 343 wanted to make Halo "cod like". Custom classes, drops, wtf??
