Wii U game sales "far behind launch levels for Gamecube and Wii"

According to Cowen & Company analyst Dough Creutz, Wii U software sales are "struggling a bit" in the US.

After the NPD sales data for the US market was released in December, Cowen stated in a research note, "Software sales for the Wii U remained well behind launch levels for the original Wii and GameCube in December."

"Totals for the November-December period were -43% lower than software sales for the Wii and -50% lower than those for the GameCube."

North American Wii U sales during the first full moth did not match those set by the Wii in December 2006, despite the Wii U generating more revenue in the same time frame.

Taking the low software sales into account, it seems that the Wii U's higher sticker price ($300 for Basic/$350 for Premium, compared to the Wii's $250) is the main reason that the Wii U's launch revenue is exceeding that of the Wii.

In the UK, no exclusive Wii U game has made it into the top 40 all format chart for the past three weeks.

Caught up to how exactly? Graphically yes that,s all.Nintendo have never been behind but as far gameplay and innovation it's the rest playing catch up.If it weren't for Nintendo home consoles would be in a sorry state,they were 1st ,to bring out the home console as we know it today,also D-Pads,Analogue sticks,rumble packs,motion controls and there certainly wouldn't even have been a Playstation in the 1st place as it was originally supposed to be a disc drive add on for the Super NES.Unfortunately most kids on here know nothing about gaming as they grew up thinking the Playstation was the 1st gaming console ever and think that if it has better graphics it's the best game,lol.Try looking around at the 100 best games ever made or even the top 20 and see how many 360 and PS3 games there are in there.Some of you need to really do some research or ask an adult who can read to help you.How do you know the "XBOX 720" will be any good or even sell many units? oh of course it will have good graphics,silly me.If that's the case the PC wins hands down as graphics will always be better on PC.

theartftw Nintendo is hurting, because what they need is a new selling point. Something not pokemon, something not zelda, and for gods sake something not mario, that only they have the right's to. I know that's a big exception list, but where is the reason to buy a wiiU? Let's see a metriod game, or a new starfox, something that makes use of the ridiculous game pad and makes me think "dang I need a wiiu now".

The Wii is the best selling console ever and the DS is the best selling hand held so how is Nintendo hurting exactly? Why did Sony and Microsoft copy the Wii motion controls? How come Sony and Microsoft don't need a new selling point,or is just another Halo what the public want? Some people really have no idea,can't wait for the new PS3 exactly the same games with exactly the same controller with better graphics? WOW!
